About Chuck

  • USPTA Professional, Level 3 Professional with MTMCA. M.S. in Phys. Ed.
  • Teach all ages and skill levels - great with kids & beginners
  • Patient and encouraging teaching style.
  • Never had a losing season as a college-level coach.
  • My college (Redlands) was #2 in the NAIA. Ranked #6, NorCal Class A.

I'm very serious about tennis teaching, but I realize that the instructor needs to make the lessons FUN! If possible, I like to plan my lessons out in advance. Am also an amateur piano player; partially fluent in French. Former C-level chess player. I have an expression: "Sportsmanship might not be #1, but it's way ahead of whatever is in 2nd place." The Positive Coaching Alliance has a very nice program for what we call Double-Goal Coaches. These are coaches who want to win, like anyone else, but also understand the need to teach kids about good sportsmanship, fair play, respecting one's opponents, teammates, teachers, coaches, and everyone. I own a ball machine that I can bring along to my lessons. While videotaping is a very practical tool, I also have a number of other teaching aids available to help my students learn the game.

Do You Have Any Questions?

Can I book a trial lesson with you?
Most people purchase a minimum of 6 hours to start so I have enough time to look at your game and make a few quick fixes or develop a plan based on your goals. If for some reason you aren’t happy, PlayYourCourt can switch you to a different coach. If they can’t find a coach you like, they will refund you the remaining lessons. But if you would still like a trial lesson you can call 301.575.6112 to set one up.
How can I contact you?
Once you have booked your lesson package, you will immediately receive my contact information. If I don't hear from you, I will call you to finalize your lesson details. You will also receive an email with all of my contact information after you book.
Can you teach more than one person at a time?
Yes, I offer semiprivate lessons for up to five students at once. Each additional player is only an extra $10.00 per hour.
I have a court I want to use, can you come to it?
Yes, if you are within my service area I am happy to come to your own private court or a public court of your choosing.
I don’t have a court in mind, where can we play?
I can provide several options in your local area that will be convenient for you.
Do you offer group lessons?
Not at this time, but private lessons are a great way to learn the basics so you can develop the proper technique and excel faster. However, you can always bring your friends! Each additional student is only $10.00 extra.
When can I start?
As soon as you’d like!
What if it rains?
If it rains we'll reschedule for a sunny day! It won’t be counted as one of your lesson credits.
