About Me

  • USPTA certified with 10 years teaching experience
  • Great w middle & high school players & intermediate adults
  • Psychologist--enthusiastic, fun, energized, & challenging

  • 4.0 USTA rated, Bronze Medal at St. Louis Senior Olympics

I'm 67, a Ph.D. psychologist, and started tennis at age 42. I got decent as a player but just loved learning about teaching the game, so I studied and got certified at age 63. The motto I use for our team is Compete--Learn--Honor, and that's what I try to teach: 100% effort, being a humble and curious learner, and bringing credit to yourself, opponents, teammates, your school, and the game of tennis. I use tennis to teach students life lessons and strategies that will help them both on and off the court. I try to help students understand principles of tennis more than specific techniques, so they can adapt and adjust technically based on their own athleticism, playing style, and tennis goals. My ultimate goal is to teach in a way that helps students just be crazy about the game, so that no matter what their level, they know they can have fun with it and get better at it for the rest of their lives.
