Richard Spurling – L.A. Tennis Professional
Richard Spurling is certifiied by the USPTA and PTR and was voted USPTA pro of the year (2010) for California for Special Populations. Richard was a top junior in Belgium and played Div. I tennis at Florida Atlantic University for four years. He has taught at The Polo Club and Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton, The Woodland Golf Club and The Dedham Country Club in Boston, and Oyster Harbors Country Club on Cape Cod. In 2010 he relocated to Los Angeles and is teaching at Braemar Country Club, Tarzana. In 2008 Richard founded a non-profit program, ACEing Autism that provides tennis clinics to children with autism.
Zach Bromberg – L.A. Tennis Professional
As a top USTA nationally ranked junior player, Zach was recruited to play at the University of Arizona. After his freshman year he left school to tour professionally. Eight months into his career, Zach endured a career ending back injury that shifted his focus to the coaching side of the game. With the importance of physical maintenance and fitness, Zach brings a unique combination of high level playing experience and fitness training to the game of tennis. His passionate and patient approach allows Zach to thrive with players of all skill levels. Zach has recently been featured in national fitness programs and DVDs, allowing him to keep expanding his knowledge base and tailor workout plans to help his clients of all levels succeed on and off the court.
Scott Seelig – L.A. Tennis Professional
Scott Seelig has been teaching tennis since 1998 and was certified by the USPTA in 2003. As a junior, Scott played USTA tournaments and later captained his high school team before playing number two singles for Emerson College. Originally hailing from the east coast, Scott has taught most recently for Total Tennis (recently featured on Tennis Channel’s “Destination Tennis”) and Prospect Park Tennis Center. Equally experienced teaching juniors and adults of all levels, Scott is both a passionate teacher and a dedicated student of the game. His patient manner, eloquent teaching style and thorough knowledge base have led to him being affectionately nicknamed “Yogi” by more than one breathless student.
Jim Moore – Orange County Tennis Professional
Jim Moore is a USPTA certified tennis professional. He began teaching tennis in 1985 after graduating from Tyler Jr College where he earned a degree in Tennis Technology. He has taught at various clubs and coached both high school and college tennis in the Orange County area. Jim has spent the last 12 years coaching tennis in the Newport Beach Parks and Recreation Facilities as well as acted performed the tasks of a score keeper, linesman and trainer for the Special Olympics Tennis.
Ken Heidman – San Diego Tennis Professional
Ken Heidman is a USPTA certified tennis professional with a Professional 1 rating from San Diego, California. As a junior, Ken was ranked in the top 20 in Southern California. He played #1 for his high school team, and continued to play #2 in college. He still competes at a high level today. Ken has 18 years of teaching experience, with all ages and levels. He has taught at several locations, including The La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. Ken was the Head Pro and Director at The Rancho Penasquitos Tennis Center for 5 years. Currently, he heads up the program at the JCC in La Jolla.
Derek Kelly – San Diego Tennis Professional
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Derek began playing club tennis at Dedham Health and Racquet Club in 1998. Derek’s passion was so pervasive that the club’s director of tennis offered him a job as an assistant pro. Derek continued to work and train at the club and was certified as a USPTA pro in 2000. His excitement for the game took him to the University of Massachusetts Boston where he played No.1 doubles and No.2 singles for the Beacons. Upon graduation, the coaches at UMass recommended Derek for a job at The Weymouth Club, which was awarded Boston’s Best Health Club. These last five years Derek has honed his teaching skills as a Peter Burwash International professional in private clubs and resorts, and is particularly proud of his involvement with Netresults Tennis, a grassroots community program in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Marc Picker – San Diego Tennis Professional
Marc is part of an elite group of teaching professionals that is certified USTA High Performance. He is also USPTA certified. Marc has been teaching and coaching in the San Diego area for the past 13 years. He was the assistant women’s coach at UCSD and is currently teaching at Bobby Riggs Tennis Club in Encinitas. Prior to becoming a teaching professional, Marc played junior tennis in the Southern Region, then went on to play at American University in Washington, DC. He has worked with all levels of players including Lu Jing Jing who is currently ranked #212 on the women’s professional tour. Marc has continued to improve his teaching by attending numerous seminars in the US and abroad.
