Rich Porter – Tennis Professional

Rich Porter is a USPTA certified tennis professional from Fort Wayne, Indiana. After an extensive junior tennis career which included training with Tennis Hall of Fame parents, Jim and Jackie Porter, Rich went on to play college tennis at Indiana University. Rich has been teaching with the National Junior Tennis League for more than twenty years, has more than ten years of experience with both men’s and women’s Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association (ALTA) team instruction, and is well educated in the USTA Quick Start program for junior tennis development.

Sonya McMichael – Tennis Professional

Sonya McMichael is a USPTA certified tennis professional with over 15 years of teaching experience.  As a junior McMichael captained her high school team, and placed second in the state of Minnesota. After a successful junior career, Sonya (under the last name of Simonson at the time) went on to play number one singles for Colorado State University, where she captained the team for two years. McMichael has vast teaching experience with both children and adults of all levels, including special needs children. McMichael has taught in Minnesota, Colorado, Florida (at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy), Illinois and Georgia.  During her time in Georgia, McMichael has also done a lot of work with ALTA teams and is largely responsible for many award winning seasons.

Scott Bowers – Tennis Professional

Scott Bowers is an experienced player and professional from Bristol, TN.  Scott had great success on the junior circuit playing several local and national events and reaching rankings as high as top 25 in the USTA Southern Section in his respective age divisions.  Scott went on to play for Furman University’s Division 1 college program for three years before he was sidelined by injury.  Scott has an extensive teaching background most recently including a position as Assistant Professional at Ridgefield Country Club (Kingsport, TN).  Scott also taught for many years at Reedy Toney Tennis Camp (Kingsport, TN), Bob Helton Tennis Camp (Bristol, TN) and locally at Bitsy Grant Tennis Center where he coached teams, and taught clinics as well as private and group lessons.

Mykel Stephens – Tennis Professional

Mykel Stephens is a USPTR certified Professional originally from Port Saint Lucie, Florida. He directed one of the top junior tennis academies at the Saint Lucie West Country Club in Florida in the late nineties before moving to Georgia. Mykel has been teaching tennis for over 15 years and has specialized in junior development and adults in both camp and club settings throughout South Florida and North Georgia. He has most recently served as the Assistant Head Tennis Professional at Sweetwater Tennis Center in Austell.  He is currently coaching several ladies’ and junior ALTA and USTA tennis teams and has a deep background in the USTA’s 10 and under QuickStart program.  Mykel has gained and demonstrated extensive experience teaching private and group lessons to all ages and skill levels. He has a deep passion and love for the game and brings high energy, motivation, a deep understanding of the game, and enthusiasm to each lesson.

Thomas Daglis – Tennis Professional

Thomas Daglis is a USPTA certified tennis professional with a Professional 1 rating from Marietta, Georgia. Thomas played in numerous USTA tournaments and achieved both Georgia and Southern rankings on the USTA junior circuit. After playing number one for Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Thomas went on to Ferris State University to pursue a degree in Professional Tennis Management. Thomas has vast teaching experience in both the Atlanta and the D.C. metropolitan area. He has taught at both Dunwoody Country Club and Pinetree Country Club in Atlanta, and has spent the last four summers teaching at the Chevy Chase Club in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
