Sam Lieber – Tennis Professional
Sam Lieber is a top tennis player and tennis professional from Clarksville, MD. Voted as a high school All-American, Sam was undefeated in singles in his high school career and won two consecutive Delaware state singles titles. He attended the University of Delaware where he was a senior captain, two-time MVP, and finished his college career as the University’s #2 all time leader in doubles wins and the #7 all time leader in singles wins. As a college senior, he was voted the North Atlantic Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year. As an adult player, Sam has been nationally ranked as high as #7 in the USTA in singles and #3 in doubles in his various age groups. Sam has an extensive 15-year teaching background providing instruction and coaching to players of all ages at top clubs in the US such as DuPont County Club, Bellevue Tennis Club, Lincolnshire Bath & Tennis Club, and Bannockburn Country Club.
Greg Chambers – Tennis Professional
Greg Chambers is a USPTA certified professional with a Professional 2 rating from Silver Spring, Maryland. After a successful career on the junior circuit Greg went on to play for the University of Maryland where he was Co-Captain of the team his senior year. In addition to his success as a player, Greg has a solid teaching background. Greg has taught at many tennis facilities the most notable of which is the Bullis Tennis Training Center in Potomac. In addition Greg was the head coach for the Boy’s Varsity tennis team at the Heights school where he turned the program around in his first year, ensuring a winning record.
David Robinson – Tennis Professional
David Robinson is an internationally recognized expert in tennis-specific fitness & conditioning and has been a USPTA National Speaker since 1995. Dozens of his articles have been published in numerous magazines over 25 years including Tennis Magazine, ADDvantage Magazine and Pro Tennis Magazine. David played #2 singles & # 1 doubles at Oregon State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology. David has competed at the national level for over 30 years and held numerous national rankings from juniors to the master divisions. He coached on the WTA pro tour for three years with top ten world ranked Barbara Potter (#8 singles/#2 doubles). David worked several years as the Director of Performance Training & Master Tennis Professional at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy and has coached internationally and nationally ranked juniors while at the Mid-Atlantic USTA Competitive Training Center, and at Harry Hopman’s and Nick Bollettieri tennis academies in Florida.
Jennifer Beekman – Tennis Professional
Jennifer Beekman is a USPTA certified tennis professional with 10 years of teaching experience. A North Potomac native, Jen grew up playing the junior tournament circuit and ranked in the top 50 of the USTA Mid-Atlantic Section. She went on to play No 2. singles and Nos. 1 and 2 doubles for four years at Ithaca College in New York where she earned all-conference honors. A co-captain her senior year, Jen helped the team win its second Empire 8 Conference title in four years in 2004. She is a tennis enthusiast who enjoys conveying her love for the sport through teaching. She has a wide range of experience instructing tennis players of all ages and skill levels. Jen previously developed and ran tennis programs for the Ithaca Youth Bureau and most recently worked as an instructor for Tennis4Life in Northern Virginia.
Ann Grubbs – Tennis Professional
Ann Grubbs is a USPTA certified tennis professional with a Professional 1 rating. She has over 30 years of experience working with adults and juniors in both camp and club settings. Ann has directed tennis camps up and down the East Coast from Connecticut to Florida and worked with all levels of students from around the world. She loves to teach and brings high energy and enthusiasm to each lesson. Ann enjoyed a successful junior career as a player in the Mid-Atlantic section and as a collegiate player at Virginia Tech. She is still playing competitive tennis, regularly reaching USTA Nationals with her various teams.
Jim Harwood – Tennis Professional
Jim Harwood is USPTA certified professional and a D.C. native. Jim attended Gonzaga High School where he set numerous records while simultaneously playing the USTA Junior circuit. Jim went on to play for Montgomery College where he continued to set records in both singles and doubles. After college Jim taught for several different local clubs in the area, including Seven Locks, Inverness, and Potomac Swim and Tennis Club. Jim left the area to take a director’s position in the Florida Keys at the Islamorada Tennis Club and has since taught all over the country at various facilities in New England and Georgia. Jim has recently returned to the DC area and teaches locally throughout Montgomery County.
Eric Shapiro – Tennis Professional
Eric Shapiro is a Bethesda native in his senior year at the University of Michigan. Eric played numerous USTA tournaments as a junior achieving a top 15 Mid-Atlantic ranking in multiple age divisions. In his high school career at Walt Whitman High School, he played the number two singles position and was a member of a two-time County and State Champion team. Eric wen on to the University of Michigan, where he continued his competitive career on the club tennis team. Eric has a strong teaching background including experience at both the Congressional Country Club and the Chevy Chase Club in Chevy Chase, MD.
